On the 12th September over fifty people from across the province took part in The Cedar Foundation's latest fundraising challenge, taking it in turns to be hurtled down a hill at high speed inside a Zorbing ball, offering an adrenaline-packed thrill for any willing participant. The event, in aid of The Cedar Foundation, attracted people from all across Northern Ireland and beyond, with one keen participant travelling all the way from France.
Christine Tweedie, Cedar's Fundraising Co-ordinator said; “This event marks the first ever charity Zorbing event to be held in Northern Ireland and we are so pleased with the number of supporters who turned out to what has been a thoroughly fun filled day in the sun. We would like to thank the individuals, families, groups of friends, corporate groups and even a 21st birthday entourage who took on the challenge, raising funds to support our work.”

Gary Lineker visits the The Jungle!
During the summer of 2009 The Jungle NI had the pleasure of a visit from Match of the Day presenter Gary Lineker and his fiancée and model Danielle Bux. The pair had been visiting Northern Ireland as part of the BBC programme Northern Exposure to uncover hidden gems and get some great ideas for things to do and see around the country. Lucky for us we were selected as one of Danielle and Gary’s favourites for the region of County Londonderry/Derry.
Gary’s Comments
‘The envelope revealed that we had been booked into a Zorbing session. This caused some small anxiety as we had just finished a large lunch. It was a beautiful, hot, sunny day which normally would be ideal, however the sunshine had heated the Zorbing ball to sauna like conditions! Danielle quickly decided that I would be the human guinea pig - a woman’s prerogative!
I dived in and strapped myself in opposite Paul, the runner, who had a camera attached to his head in order to catch the full range of my facial expressions as I spun down the slope. Once at the bottom of the hill, and reunited with a super cool Danielle, the reward of a relaxing dip in the hot tub was much appreciated!’

Belfast Giants Rumble in the Jungle!!
Belfast Giants hung up their skates and opted for a day at the Jungle Paintball in Moneymore. The Giants were divided into two teams, the Canadians Vs the British. Both teams proved to be highly competitive resulting in several light hearted disputes over cheating. However as with all sports there had to be one winner and on this occasion the British were the overall winners leaving the Canadians to pay for chips and beers on the way home. Leigh Jaimeson from the giants said “The Jungle had a great set-up with explosions and smoke bombs simulating a realistic battle scene”. Lewis Christie commented that he was surprised at how much the games got his adrenaline pumping!!
